Sacramento Kings Information

The Kings started out as the Rochester Royals in 1945, later became the Cincinnati Royals, the Kansas City Kings, and finally the Sacramento Kings in 1985. They have one NBA Championship to their credit, which they won in 1951. They have five division titles, their last coming in 2003. In 2007, the Kings missed the playoffs for the first time since the 1997-98 season.

In 2009, the Kings finished with the worst record in the league at 17-65. The off-season that followed marked a number of adjustments to the franchise. Former Phoenix Suns coach and player Paul Westphal agreed to step in as head coach. With the 4th overall pick in the draft the Kings selected Tyreke Evans, and picked Omri Casspi from Israel in the 23rd round. The young roster improved to a 25-57 record in 2010.

The 2010-11 season had the Kings at 24-58 and out of the playoffs once again. This season, they only have 17 wins and will not make the playoffs. Though they play in a tough division, they will look to finish off strong and come back next season ready to play again.
