Pretty Lights Information
Pretty Lights is the musical vision of Colorado based producer Derek Smith, accompanied in the live setting by a drummer, currently Adam Deitch. Together the two achieve a raw energy rarely reached live in the realm of electronic music. With a name inspired by a vintage poster for a Pink Floyd and The Who tour, it’s no surprise that Pretty Lights sound has been described as an “electro-organic, cutting-edge party†rocking beats that fill venues with energy and emotion and send dance floors into frenzies. Pretty Lights' first three albums, Taking Up Your Precious Time, Filling Up The City Skies, and Passing By Behind Your Eyes have been downloaded over 500,000 times from PrettyLightsMusic.com.
In 2010, Pretty Lights played at the Coachella Valley Music Festival, Evolve Festical in Nova Scotia, Movement 1010 in Detroid, the Starscape Festival, Camp Bisco 9, the Electric Zoo in New York city, the Ultra Music Festival in Miami and the North Coast Music Festival in Chicago. They have also headlined the Snow Ball in Avon Colorado with Bassnectar and the Flaming Lips. In June of 2011, Pretty Lights played at Bonnaroo as well.
In January 2011 Pretty Lights released two albums under their new record label, Pretty Lights Music. The label offers free downloads of any of their albums. Pretty Lights continues to distribute music for free and a donation option is available. They frequently appear at festivals across the world and will be at Boston's TD Garden November 31, 2012.
