Pet Shop Boys Information
The Pet Shop Boys are an English electronic pop group consisting of Neil Tennant, vocals/keyboards and Chris Lowe also on vocals/keyboards. The Pet Shop Boys are considered to be one of the most consistent pop duos in pop music, especially in Europe. Their presentation has always been a major theme to The Pet Shop Boys. They've changed their look twice, from the 1980's-esque brightly colored costumes with state of the art computer technology to for show, to the wigs and glasses with futuristic urban wardrobes they're seen to wear now. Their music was labeled as disco, but they felt that their music had more of a trademark sound that today would have been considered either a pop synth band or new wave. No matter what you decided to call it, they're always insisted that their music was "anti-rock".
They've recorded 38 top 40 singles including their most famously known singles, "West End Girls", "It's a Sin", "Always on My Mind", and "Heart". "West End Girls" is the most heart Pet Shop Boys track heard to date. They've received BPI and Ivor Novello Awards for the track. Another unique style of The Pet Shop Boys is making a number of extended and remixed versions of their songs. There are been more than 80 DJ's that have remixed Pet Shop Boys tracks including, Moby and Sasha from Sasha & Digweed. The Pet Shop Boys album, "Very" is the only one of their albums to reach #1 on UK charts.
