Montreal Canadiens Information

One of the original six teams, the Canadiens were founded in 1909. Since their inception they have won 24 Stanley Cups, which is the most titles held by any franchise in the NHL. Percentage wise, they have won 26% of all Stanley cup championships. Their last Cup win was in the 1992-93 season.

In 2008, Montreal made the playoffs with a 47-25 record, but failed to make it past the Conference Semifinals where they lost to the Philadelphia Flyers in five games. 2008 was memorable for celebrating 100 years as a franchise, and also becoming the first team to earn 3,000 total wins.

They made it right back into the post-season with a 41-30-11 record in 2009. They met up against the Bruins for the second year in a row in the quarter finals, but this time were unable to come out victorious. In the 2010-2011 campaign, they played the Bruins once again and lost. The 2011-12 season led to 31 wins and 35 losses in the regular season. The team finished 5th in the Northeast and did not qualify for the playoffs. They are looking to come back with a strong start in the 2012-2013 season.
