Mixfest Information

Boston’s Mix 104.1 will be hosting their annual Mixfest, this year will a killer lineup. Headlined by the Goo Goo Dolls, the festival will also include Switchfoot (with the hit “Dare You to Move”), last year’s American Idol winner Kris Allen, Steven Page (founding member and ex-front man of Bare Naked Ladies) and the alternative band Spill Canvas.

The Goo Goo Dolls are best known for their late ‘90s hits “Iris” and “Slide” and are currently working on an upcoming album to be released at the end of August. Kris Allen got major radio play with his Idol coronation song as well as his acoustic cover of Kanye West’s “Heartless”. He released his self-titles debut album in November 2009 with the singles “Live Like You’re Dying” (peaking at #18) and “The Truth”, featuring vocals from Train singer Pat Monahan. Switchfoot’s seventh studio album was released in November of 2009 titled Hello Hurricane. A Christian band, they are most noted for their energetic live shows and singles “Dare You to Move” and “Meant to Live”, which was on the charts in 2003.

Since splitting from Bare Naked Ladies in favor of establishing a solo career, which he’s began by playing folk festivals. The Spill Canvas are an alternative rock band based heavily on touring, having headlined alongside bands like Yellowcard, Plain White T’s, Motion City Soundtrack, The Fold, Ludo and Sing It Loud. Their sixth studio album is expected out sometime late 2010/early 2011. The Mixfest has been a collection of exciting artists that everyone enjoys that come together to put on a show packed with your favorite Mix 104.1 hits. With five acts playing this year, it’s bound to make for a perfect summer day.
