Margaret Cho Information
Though she began as a standup comedian at a young age, Margaret Cho has over the years expanded her expertise to include fashion design, acting, writing and even songwriting. Born to a Korean family in San Francisco, Cho recalls that her childhood was a memorable one- playing witness to all the burnouts from the ‘60s as well as the active racial and sexual movements San Fran had to offer in the ‘70s- which is why race and sexuality are the main premises of Cho’s material. Margaret Cho is also extremely passionate about the LGBT community of California as well as the Democratic Party.
With her first tour in the past two years, Margaret Cho began her 2010 trek at this year’s Bonnaroo festival, promoting the album released last week titled Cho-Dependant. The album is the first musical record she’s put out, featuring such artists as Tegan and Sara, Brendan Benson, Andrew Bird, Fiona Apple and Ani DiFranco. Cho will be in Provincetown for a 7-date show at The Vixen beginning next week and will return to New England in October at the Wilbur Theater on the 28th before hitting the New York Comedy Festival in November and wrapping up the “Cho-Dependant†tour in December in Atlanta.
