Madonna Information

Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, born on August 16, 1958, is arguably the most successful female recording artist of all time. In 2000, Madonna was bestowed that very honor by the Guinness Book of World Records. Her achievements include 7 Grammy Awards, 12 #1 hits and 37 top ten hits on the U.S. Billboard Charts.

Madonna's career kicked off in 1982 when she signed with Sire Records. Her first single, "Everybody" reached #3 on the Billboard Dance Charts. Madonna's first big hit was off her self-entitled 1983 album. The single " Holiday" peaked at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100. Madonna's success at the time coincided with the rise of MTV. Her sexy and playful videos took full advantage of the new medium available to musicians.

It was Madonna's next album Like a Virgin that launched her career and made her an International Superstar. The title track also gave us one of the most memorable moments in the history of the MTV Music Video Awards, with Madonna writhing onstage in a wedding dress. Her next two albums, True Blue and Like A Prayer, solidified the success she received with Like a Virgin.

Madonna's Confessions On a Dance Floor, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, following her lackluster 2003 album American Life. In support of the album, Madonna launched a worldwide tour covering North America, Japan and Europe in 2006.

In 2008, Madonna released her final album for Warner Bros. Records, Hard Candy. It debuted at #1 in the U.S. and many places around the world. The song “4 Minutes” featured Justin Timberlake and made it to #4 on the U.S. Billboard Charts. She promoted the album with her eighth concert tour, Sticky & Sweet, and broke several records, including ticket sales and attendance.

Madonna signed a deal with Interscope Records in December 2011 for three new records.

Her new album, MDNA, will be released on March 26, 2012. Following the release, Madonna will launch her ninth tour, a six month long World Tour kicking off in Tel Aviv, Israel. A song from the album, “Masterpiece,” is featured in the film W.E., which she directed and co-wrote. It won for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes. Her first single from the album, “Give Me All Your Lovin,’” dropped on February 3, 2012 and it features LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., and Cee Lo Green.

As always Madonna tickets will be in high demand for all stops on her upcoming 2012 Tour.
