Linkin Park Information

American rock band, Linkin Park, got started in 1996 with high school friends, Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, and Brad Delson, collaborating after graduating high school. They brought on Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to form the group Xero. They failed to get a record deal and Wakefield and Farrell left for other endeavors. To replace Wakefield, they brought on Chester Bennington and in 1999 signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records.

The two-time Grammy, four time AMA and MTV Video Music Awards winner has five studio albums, two live albums, and 18 EPs. They released their debut album, Hybrid Theory, in 2000 and had instant success, reaching #2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Following the album, they toured on Ozzfest, the Family Values Tour, and KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, as well as on their own Projekt Revolution. Farrell rejoined the band for their 2002 remix album, Reanimation, which also reached #2 on the chart.

Despite a hectic touring schedule, Linkin Park found time to record their second studio album, Meteora, in 2003, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. After the release, they were invited by Metallica to perform at the Summer Sanitarium Tour in 2003 along with Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne, and the Deftones. They then released a cd/dvd called Live in Texas that same year.

They took a hiatus for a few years before releasing a third studio album in 2007, Minutes to Midnight, which gave them another #1 hit. Through the years leading up to the release, Linkin Park performed for a number of charity events, including for Hurricane Charley, Hurricane Katrina, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. They continued to tour around the world before releasing a fourth album in 2010, called A Thousand Suns. With another #1 hit on their hands, the band continued to be one of the leading alternative rock bands of the generation.

Linkin Park has a new album set to be released on June 26, 2012. The album is entitled, Living Things, and the band will tour the Honda Civic Tour in promotion of it starting on August 11 in Bristow, VA. Through the spring, they will embark on a European tour that will take them through June.
