John Prine Information

John Prine is an American country and folk singer from Illinois who has been singing, writing and performing for over 30 years. Prine’s first album was released in 1971 simply titled “John Prine”. Fellow singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson discovered him while playing around the Chicago folk scene. This album is now know for classic Prine songs such as, “Illegal Smile”, “Angel from Montgomery” and “Paradise”. Since then Prine has had continued success as a singer-songwriter and has gone on to release numerous albums and formed his own label, “Oh Boy Records”. His songs are covered by many artists those most notably being The Highwaymen, My Morning Jacket and Justin Townes Earle.

He received a Grammy for his 1991 album “The Missing Years” and has become decorated with a Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriting from BBC Radio 2 as well as being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. John Prine continues to write and release music and is currently on tour.
