Eddie Izzard Information
Eddie Izzard was born on February 7th, 1962 in Aden, Yemen and is a well known English stand-up comedian and actor. Izzard got his start as a comedian in Europe first working as a street performer before taking his act to the comedy circuit in London in 1987.
In the 90's, Izzard saw lots of success in touring the United Kingdom and getting his name out there. He even had a successful stint in New York City on his Definite Article tour in 1996, but his mainstream US success would not come until 1999 when his Dress to Kill routine was aired on HBO television. The show would go on to earn Izzard two Emmy awards in 2000 for writing and performance. Izzard's act on stage is highly influenced by Monte Python, mostly in his style of stream-of-consciousness comedic delivery. He suffers from dyslexia, so he never works off a script which sometimes causes him to jump around from topic to topic. Comedy Central named Izzard number 75 on the list on 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.
Izzard is currently traveling the U.S. on his "Stripped" tour and plans to continue performing overseas starting late October. Look for him to star in upcoming films "Rage" and "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" as well. Once he returns from Europe the comedian will embark on his "Stripped Too" U.S. tour for 2010. He is set to open the tour at the Madison Square Garden on Saturday, January 16, and will perform at the TD Banknorth Garden soon after.
