Citizen Cope Information
Clarence Greenwood, more popularly known as Citizen Cope, is a songwriter and producer of blues, soul, folk and rock. Originally the DJ for Washington DC based hip hop group Basehead, Greenwood was signed to Capitol Records in 1997. He was later signed with DreamWorks and in 2002 released his first self-titled album. In 2004 he produced and released The Clarence Greenwood Recordings then Every Waking Moment in 2006. This album debuted at No. 69 on the Billboard 200 top-selling albums chart. In 2010 Cope founded and produced his own record label, Rainwater Recordings and released The Rainwater LP in the same year.
Citizen Cope has toured professionally throughout his career and has a strong fan base. He performs an average of 100 concerts a year at both major clubs and festivals. In 2010 he was invited to be a part of Eric Clapton's U.S. Crossroads Festivals. Cope has recently gone RIAA gold and his most recent album, "One Lovely Day," was released July 17 of this year. His next up coming tour will kick off in Richmond, VA on October 25 and conclude after 10 shows at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. Citizen Cop will be at Boston's House of Blues on Friday, November 2 at 7PM.
