Circa Survive Information

Circa Survive is an alternative rock band consisting of former Saosin vocalist Anthony Green and members of the now-defunct This Day Forward, including guitarists Brendan Ekstrom and Colin Frangicetto. Compared to the sound of Green’s former group, the music of Circa Survive taps a different musical influence for Green, comparatively less aggressive, with a stronger focus on songwriting. An epiphany on Anthony Green’s part came in 2004, when he realized despite Saosin being close to breaking out, he’d never be happy. In turn, he left his band behind to join forces with Colin Frangicetto, after a recent jam session had too much potential to turn away. Brendan Ekstrom and Steve Clifford joined shortly after, all connected from past tours.

Since its formation, Circa Survive now has many national tours under their belt, including a co-headlining tour that took place in 2005. The band played Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey from 2005 to 2008 and has toured with the likes of Thursday, Rise Against, Billy Talent, My Chemical Romance and Saves the Day, with a headlining tour following in 2006. On Letting Go, the band’s second album, followed in 2007, debuting at number 24 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 24,000 copies in its first week.

After supporting Thrice and Pelican for their Spring 2008 tour, Circa Survive returned home to Philadelphia to write a follow up record. The band frequently spoke of the new material as a brand new direction, and completely surpassing any of their previous releases. Blue Sky Noise was released in April 2010, debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200, and #1 on the Alternative Albums Chart. The band is currently touring the US in promotion of their latest album, playing Boston’s House of Blues on November 24th.
