Childish Gambino Information

Actor, writer, comedian, and musician, Donald Glover, is best known for his role on the hit TV show Community, and as the singer Childish Gambino.

He has played Troy Barnes on Community since 2009 and has also been a writer for shows like The Daily Show and 30 Rock. In 2009, he was awarded the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Series for 30 Rock. He has also performed in shows like Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III and Late Night shows with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Fallon, and David Letterman.

In 2010, his first Comedy Central stand-up special aired. He was awarded the Rising Comedy Star award at the Just for Laughs festival that year, starred in a Gap holiday ad, and released his first EP with the song, “Be Alone.” He also went on the IAMDONALD tour and a music video for his song, “Freaks and Geeks,” which was used in an Adidas commercial.

He hosted the Woodie Awards at South by Southwest for mtvU in 2011 and performed his second Comedy Central stand-up special, Weirdo. He performed at the Bonnaroo Music Festival, The Comedy Theater, at the San Diego Comic Con, the LA Rock The Bells concert, and the BruinBash festival that year. In addition to the live performances, he released his first album with Glassnote Records, Camp, on November 15, 2011, which he followed up with an 11-cities Sign-Up Tour.

The album earned him #2 positions on both the U.S. Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and U.S. Billboard Rap Albums charts, as well as a #11 spot on the U.S. Billboard 200. Hit singles off the album include “Bonfire” and “Heartbeat.”

His new Childish Gambino tour kicks off March 16 in Atlanta Georgia. He will hit up spots across the U.S. and Canada throughout the spring.
