Celtic Woman Information

Conceptualized after the success of the travelling Irish dance show Riverdance, with the idea of “Riverdance of the Voice”, the all-female musical group Celtic Woman came to creation. The group first formed in 2004, with five members performing classic Celtic tunes in Gaelic as well as modern tunes. By blending the set lists with traditional Irish tracks and nontraditional pop songs, the group managed to appeal to a wide audience. Celtic Woman has since undertaken a number of world tours and cumulatively sold over 6 million records worldwide. Their first recorded performance was aired on PBS, at the Helix in Dublin performed to a sold-out audience. This was followed by a debut that stayed at #1 on the Billboard chart for a record 81 weeks, beating out Andrea Bocelli’s 68 weeks.

Mairead, Lisa, Chloe and Lynn make up the current touring group, with three original members. Having released five albums in five years, including one Holiday collection, Celtic Woman have played with multimember orchestras and continue to wow massive audiences around the world. The angelic vocals of Celtic Woman will be wrapping up their summer long US tour September 12th, after having played the scenic Bangor Waterfront Park last week.
