Brandi Carlile Information
American country/folk singer-songwriter, Brandi Carlile, plays the guitar, piano, and banjo. She got her start in 2004 and has released five albums since her 2005 self-titled debut. Her best known album is 2007â€™s, The Story, her sophomore album. The single off of the album, â€œThe Story,â€ was used in a commercial for General Motors that aired during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Carlile began performing in Seattle with her twin brother. Dave Matthews saw her at 2003â€™s Sasquatch! Music Festival and was signed to Columbia Records in 2004. In 2005, Rolling Stone named her one of their â€œ10 Artists to Watch,â€ and in 2006, she toured with the likes of Ray LaMontagne, Jonny Lange, Hanson, Indigo Girls, The Fray, and Tori Amos.
She continued to tour in 2007 and in 2008, opened for Maroon 5 and OneRepublic during the Australian run of their tour. Her third album, Give Up the Ghost, was released in 2009 and ranked #26 on the US Billboard 200. The album featured a collaboration with Sir Elton John, â€œCaroline.â€ She followed up with a live album in 2011, Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony.
In 2010, Carlile received the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Music Artist with Give Up the Ghost.
Her fourth studio album will be released on June 5, 2012, entitled Bear Creek. She will tour in promotion of the album starting on June 20 in Apple Valley, MN.
