Patriots Get Shutout Win Over Lions
The Patriots improved to 2-3 on the season with their 29-0 shutout win over the Lions on Sunday. New England who is still without injured QB Mac Jones, and backup QB Brian Hoyer, relied on rookie Bailey Zappe to lead them out of the huddle. Zappe got his first career TD on Sunday, threw for 188 yards with 1 interception. Not a bad start to his career.
Can’t have a shutout without talking about the defense for the Patriots. Highlights included Kyle Dugger’s 59 yard TD off of a Lions fumble. Matt Judon added two sacks for the Patriots as the Lions were held without a TD for the first time this season.
New England rounded out it’s scoring with Nick Folk going 5-5 on field goals and 2-2 on extra points. Jakobi Meyers was the top receiver for New England with 111 yards and 1 TD.
