Combining elements of indie-rock and world music, Beirut is the brainchild of Zach Condon. The bandâ€™s first album Gulag Orkestar , was praised for Condonâ€™s soft voice and use of instruments such as ukulele, flugelhorn and trumpet. The bandâ€™s can best be described as a soundtrack to a travel journal, close your eyes and imagine the landscapes moving by your face as you drift out to sea or take that initial liftoff from the runway. Six years into his career and he already has an impressive catalog of both unique EPâ€™s and three solid full lengths. Their most recent release The Rip Tide came out in 2011 and you can currently catch the band performing live.
