Amy Schumer Information

Amy Schumer is a stand-up comedian, actress and writer. She is most widely known for placing fourth on the fifth season of NBC's "Last Comic Standing" and second on Comedy Central's "Reality Bites Back." Amy was born in 1981 on Long Island, New York. she was voted "Class Clown" and "Teacher's Worst Nightmare" in high school and graduated from Towson University with a degree in theater.

She has been present in in comedy since 2004 when she portrayed a young woman in the off-Broadway black comedy "Keeping Abreast." She also began doing stand-up comedy this year performing at Gotham Comedy Club. She recorded a special for comedy Central and believes this was her "big break." She then advanced to the finals on the fifth season of NBC's reality television talent show called "Last Comic Standing" and ended up in fourth place. She then starred in the show "Reality Bites Back" in 2008. Since 2010 she has been a frequent guest on the "Howard Stern Show" as well as Fox News' late-night program "Red Eye with Greg Gutfiled." She has been on NBC's "30 Rock," "Live at Gotham" and on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

2012 has brought new successes for Schumer. She has emerged as an actress, appearing in "Price Check," "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" and "Sleepwalk with Me." She has also begun developing a sketch comedy series for Comedy Central which will feature single-camera vignettes of her playing "heightened versions" of herself. They will be linked to pieces of her stand-up shows as well. The show will be called "Inside Amy Schumer" and is expected to premiere in spring of 2013. Amy will bring her stand-up show to Boston's Wilbur Theatre on Saturday, December 15 at 7PM.
