Young The Giant Information

Young the Giant, an alternative rock band from California, features Sameer Gadhia, Jacob Tilley, Eric Cannata, Payam Doostzadeh, and Francois Comtois. Their original band name was called, The Jakes, but changed to Young the Giant after signing with Roadrunner Records in 2009.

In 2010, they toured with Minus the Bear and Steel Train, and performed with other bands, including Marina and the Diamonds, The Futureheads, Neon Trees, and New Politics.

Their first official album, Young the Giant, was released online in October 2010 to positive reviews, including one from Amazon which called it #3 of the best rock albums of the year. It dropped in c.d. form in January 2011, and the first single was “My Body,” #5 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs. Their songs have been on episodes of American Idol and MTV Unplugged, and they have also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

They also did a number of concerts, including at South by Southwest, Sasquatch! Music Festival, BBC’s Later…with Jools Holland, The Great Escape Festival, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Music Festival. Following their 2011 MTV Video Music Awards performance, the band toured with Incubus and all of this exposure gained them enormous success, including higher sales and a spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

In February 2012, they kicked off their own tour and will be traveling across the country. They also have MTV’s Woodies Tour and a performance at this summer’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival scheduled.
