The Cowboys represent the University of Wyoming's 15 varsity athletic teams that compete in the NCAA Division 1 Mountain West Conference. Players and fans alike show their school pride in colors brown and gold while rallying behind mascots Cowboy Joe (Horse) and Pistol Pete (Character). Primary playing fields include War Memorial Stadium and Arena-Auditorium. Over the years Wyoming football has won a total of four conference titles with a post-season bowl record of 5-6. The basketball program won the NCAA Tournament way back in 1943. They've been ranked #1 in their conference sixteen times from 1932-2002.
