Willie Nelson Information

Willie Nelson, who just recently got a makeover and lost his signature waist-long braids is an icon in American pop culture. Nelson began his musical career by writing his songs for other artists, though had a hard time breaking in the industry himself. After recording an album with RCA he finally starts receiving mild success through the early 70’s. After moving to Austin he gained a local fan base, convincing him to give another attempt at the music scene.

After gaining success from his three albums released in the early 70’s, Nelson joined forces with Waylon Jennings to create the genre outlaw country with the album Wanted! The Outlaws (1976), country music’s first platinum album. From there, Nelson remained on top of the charts, with two more platinum albums. Nelson then formed the super group the Highwaymen with Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, which achieved massive success. Nelson has since continuously toured through the 90’s and early 2000’s alongside artists like Bob Dylan and Bonnie Raitt. Nelson is also well known for his activism work with NORML and UNICEF. Willie Nelson is currently on tour for the summer throughout June and July, after having performed for 35 years.
