The Broncos are the name for the Western Michigan University varsity athletic teams. The 15 sports compete in the NCAA Division 1 Mid-American Conference. Major facilities include Waldo Stadium, University Arena, and Hyames Field. Students wear Brown and Gold to showcase their school pride behind mascot Buster Bronco.

WMU's most recognizable sports are basketball and football. the basketball team has made three NCAA tournament appearances. Broncos football holds a total record of 504-392-24. Since starting up in 1906 they’ve won three conference titles and qualified to play in four bowl games.
