Washington Wizards Information

The Wizards began play in 1961 as the Chicago Packers and later moved to Maryland as the Baltimore Bullets. They eventually became the Washington Bullets and have one NBA Championship as a franchise in 1978. In 2001, part owner Michael Jordan decided to return to the NBA once again and suited up as player for the Wizards. The team failed to reach the playoffs in the two years that Jordan played for them.

In their last three consecutive playoff appearances, Washington was not able to get past the first round. Not only have they not been able to advance, but they were knocked out by the same team all three times-- the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Wizards in 2009 went completely downhill, finishing up the season with 63 losses. They opened the season on October 29th with a loss against New Jersey, and dropped 15 of their first 19 games. Head coach Eddie Jordan was fired on November 24th after a 1–10 start, and was replaced by interim Ed Tapscott. From there they had no chance to rebuild mid-season.

In the 2010-11 season, the Wizards finished up at 23-59, last in the division and no playoff spot. They’ll miss the postseason once again this season, with only an 11-35 record and a few games to go. Look for the team to try to make a strong finish and look forward to a new season.
