Information

The Washington Nationals were established as the Montreal Expos in 1969. After the 1994 strike, interest in the Expos in Montreal severely declined. The team moved to Washington in 2005 under the ownership of MLB and became the Nationals. The Nationals play in the NL East division. As a franchise the Expos/Nationals have no Championships and no Pennants.

The 2008 season was nothing but frustrating for the ball club after finishing dead last in the division with a 59-102 record. Outfielder Willie Harris will be back to grow more in Washington after signing a two-year extension last December. The Nationals also recently acquired pitchers Daniel Dabrera and Scott Olsen along with outfielder Josh Willingham. Nick Johnson will be expected at first base for the 2009 season as long as he can stay healthy.

Watch for newcomers Elijah Dukes and Lastings Milledge in the outfield, who show signs of great potential. If this young Nationals team can come together it won't be surprising to see them perform well in the NL East.
