Umphreys McGee Information
Umphrey's McGee Information, Umphrey's McGee is a band known for its progressive rock/jam band qualities. They first formed together at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and now reside in Chicago, Illinois. In 1997 the original band members first came together including vocalist/guitarist Brenden Bayliss, bassist Ryan Stasik, keyboardist Joel Cummins, and drummer Mike Mirro. Their first album "Greatest Hits Vol. III" was released in 1998, featuring songs "Divisions" and "All in Time," which are still fan favorites today in their live sets.
Soon after the release of their first album Andy Farag joined the band as an additional percussionist. Lead Guitarist/vocalist Jake Cinninger was introduced to Umphrey's in September of 2000. In 2002 Mike Mirro decided it was time for a change, which led the band to find drummer Kris Myers. From there the band took off past Indiana as they started becoming more popular on a national level. In 2004 they released their most popular album to date "Anchor Drops," which led Rolling Stone Magazine to comment on the band as "becoming odds-on favorites in the next-Phish sweepstakes."
In 2006 Umphrey's released their fourth recorded album "Safety In Numbers," leading them to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live with Huey Lewis. The following year they recorded the live album "Live at the Murat" in 2007. Rolling Stone gave the album a 4-star review. In January of 2009 the band released their most recent studio album "Mantis," which relates more to their original progressive style that they displayed in "Anchor Drops." Don't miss Umphrey's McGee when they arrive at the House of Blues in Boston Thursday, April 30th, 2009.
