Information

Trans-Siberian Orchestra was formed in 1996 by Paul O'Neill who immediately approached long time friends and collaborators Robert Kinkel and Jon Oliva to form the core of the writing team. Paul was always looking for ways to make the music have greater and greater emotional impact. He tried to write the music that was so melodic it didn't need lyrics. And lyrics that were so poetic that they didn't need music but once you put the two of them together, the sum of the parts would be greater than the whole, and you couldn't imagine them apart.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra released their debut album Christmas Eve and Other Stories in 1996, and it remains their best-selling album. Their 1998 release The Christmas Attic was similarly a concept album with a Christmas theme. In 2000, they released their first (and to date only) non-Christmas album, Beethoven's Last Night, a concept album about Ludwig van Beethoven's last night on earth, during which he meets Fate, her son Twist, and Mephistopheles. After several years of touring, they returned to the studio with another full-length album, Lost Christmas Eve, and the accompanying DVD/3-CD release The Christmas Trilogy, which contained all three of their Christmas albums to date.

The band is now working on a new non-Christmas album, "Nightcastle." It is projected to be released in October of 2009 and is expected to feature the band's rendition of Carmina Burana, performed as a preview by the band during their 2004 and 2005 tours. Their 2005 tour was one of the 25 most successful concert tours of the year, earning just over US $21 million. They are currently planning a 2009 Christmas tour and are scheduled to perform at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH before arriving to the DCU Center November 19th in Worcester, MA.
