The University of Toledo Rockets field 15 varsity athletic teams that compete in the NCAA Division 1 Mid-American Conference. Their biggest rival is the Bowling Green Falcons, who compete year by year for the "Piece Pipe." The tradition originated with basketball competitions but moved to football during the 1980 season. Toledo's most recognizable playing fields include Glass Bowl, Savage Hall, and Scott Park. Behind team mascot Rocky the Rocket, players and fans wear school colors Midnight Blue and Gold.
