Information

The Tennessee Titans franchise is a part of the AFC South division and were previously recognized as the Houston Oilers. The team formulated in 1960 as members of the American Football League. The Oilers won two AFL championships before joining the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL Merger. In 1997 the franchise moved to Tennessee, first playing in Memphis for a year before moving to Nashville. They were referred to as the Tennessee Oilers before eventually changing their name to the Tennessee Titans in 1999. In their first year as Titans quarterback Steve McNair led them to Super Bowl XXXIV, where they were defeated in a thriller by the St. Louis Rams 23-16.

For the past 2 years the Titans have been strong enough to make the playoffs, but haven't been able to get past the first round. Last season they finished 13-3 and finished first in their division, but were upset by the Baltimore Ravens 13-10 in the opening round. Kerry Collins was their 2008 QB leader, but the 26 year old Vince Young is eager to try and earn his starting spot back. The Titans will also be led by running backs Chris Johnson and LenDale White, and rely on free safety Michael Griffin to hold the defense together.
