Trans Siberian Orchestra Information

Trans-Siberian Orchestra was formed in 1996 by Paul O'Neill who immediately approached long time friends and collaborators Robert Kinkel and Jon Oliva to form the core of the writing team. Paul was always looking for ways to make the music have greater and greater emotional impact. He tried to write the music that was so melodic it didn't need lyrics. And lyrics that were so poetic that they didn't need music but once you put the two of them together, the sum of the parts would be greater than the whole, and you couldn't imagine them apart.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra released their debut album Christmas Eve and Other Stories in 1996, and it remains their best-selling album. Their 1998 release The Christmas Attic was similarly a concept album with a Christmas theme. In 2000, they released their first (and to date only) non-Christmas album, Beethoven's Last Night, a concept album about Ludwig van Beethoven's last night on earth, during which he meets Fate, her son Twist, and Mephistopheles. After several years of touring, they returned to the studio with another full-length album, Lost Christmas Eve, and the accompanying DVD/3-CD release The Christmas Trilogy, which contained all three of their Christmas albums to date.

The band is presenting its live debut of "Lost Christmas Eve" beginning November 15, 2012. The show has been called an uplifting "story of loss and redemption." Featuring a diverse soundtrack with elements of rock, folk, R&B, Broadway, and folk, the story follows the inhabitants of a rundown hotel, an old toy star, a Gothic cathedral and a blues bar during a single Christmas Eve night in New York City. Some hit singles include "Wizards in Winter," "Christmas Nights in Blue" and "Siberian Sleigh Ride." The show will also include new, recently released songs from their Fall EP, "Dreams of Fireflies" and classics from their debut album, "Christmas Eve and Other Stories."

The tour will present over 100 shows in 65 cities throughout North America. They will be hitting Boston's TD Garden on December 23, 2012.
