Norah Jones Information

Norah Jones is a singer/song-writer, musician, and actress from Brooklyn. In addition to singing, she plays the piano and keyboards and the guitar. She has released four studio albums, one compilation album, and three live DVDs. With #1 rankings on her first three albums, her fourth received #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her fifth album, …Little Broken Hearts, is set to be released on May 1, 2012. Despite high album sales, she has only had two singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100: #30 “Don’t Know Why” and #83 “Thinking About You.” Jones is a ten-time Grammy Award winner for awards like Best New Artist, Album of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album.

In 2001, she moved to New York City and signed with Blue Note Records after having performed back-up for singer Victoria Williams. Her debut album, Come Away With Me, came out in 2002 and was an instant hit. It reached #1 on the Billboard 200 and won her five Grammys.

Her follow-up album, Feels Like Home, was released in 2004. It had similar success to her first album and prompted Time Magazine to name her one of the 100 Most Influential of the year. For the album, she won five more Grammys.

2007 marked the release of her third album, Not Too Late. On this album, she wrote or co-wrote all of the songs and believed it to have a darker touch. That year, it came in third for best first week sales. In the same year, Jones mad her film debut in My Blueberry Nights.

She released her fourth album, The Fall, in 2009 and though it garnered much critical acclaim, it did not reach #1 on the charts. Billboard’s 2000-2009 decade awards named her the Best Jazz Performer and placed her #60 as Best Artist. A year later, she released a compilation album featuring collaborations she had performed with artists like Willie Nelson, the Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams, and Dolly Parton.

Jones has gone on four tours throughout her career. In anticipation of her fifth studio album, she will go on another summer tour, which kicks off May 25 in Paris and will continue on throughout Europe and North America.
