The Addams Family Information

Based on the iconic characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, The Addams Family is an all-new musical comedy starring two-time Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth as Gomez and Morticia. The show also features the Addams family characters we know so well- Uncle Fester, Grandma Lurch, Pugsley, Wednesday – as well as a new family of characters- Mal, Alice and Lucas Beineke.

The Addams Family features an original story, not drawn from past "Addams" film or TV plots. Teenage Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, falls in love with a "normal" boy, Lucas, from a respectable family in Ohio. When he and his folks come to visit, all hell breaks loose in the haunted mansion the Addams Family calls home.

Prior to Broadway, the musical grossed over $12 million during eight weeks at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago. The musical then debuted on Broadway in March and grossed over $9 million in its first seven weeks. Terry Teachout of the Wall Street Journal said, “You’ll laugh a lot! The fantastically elaborate set evokes with gratifying exactitude the eerie parallel universe of the Addams Cartoons.” The Addams Family musical is taking place now through January at the Lunt Fontanne Theater in New York.
