Stevie Nicks Information

Singer/Songwriter Stevie Nicks is best known for being a member of Fleetwood Mac, but has also had a vast and successful solo career. Coming from Arizona, Nicks' got her start after meeting her future musical/romantic partner, Lindsay Buckingham, in high school. in a band called Fritz. A few years later in 1968, Buckingham contacted her again to join the band Fritz. They opened for the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin until leaving in 1972 to work as a duo. Together they joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974, which went on to become one of the most memorable and successful acts of their time.

Fleetwood Mac had 13 albums, including 1977’s Rumours, which is considered their best and features hit songs like, “Go Your Own Way,” “Don’t Stop,” and “You Make Loving Fun.” As a band, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. They have two Grammy Awards, one for Album of the Year for Rumours, and the second for 2003’s Grammy Hall of Fame Award. They have a total of ten Grammy Award nominations.

Nicks began her solo career in between recording Fleetwood Mac albums and touring with the band, but didn’t release her first album until 1981’s Bella Donna, which reached #1 in the U.S.. She has had a total of 11 albums and eight Grammy Award nominations for her solo work. In addition to touring with Fleetwood Mac, she has gone on 16 solo tours and will kick off her 17th this summer with Rod Stewart in the Heart & Soul Tour: 2012.

After touring for Fleetwood Mac’s album, Behind the Mask, in 1990, Nicks left the band after fellow member Mick Fleetwood would not allow her to feature the song “Silver Springs” on her new album, Timespace- The Best of Stevie Nicks, as it would interfere with the release of Fleetwood Mac’s box set.

She released her most recent album, In Your Dreams, in 2011, ten years after her last album, 2001’s Trouble in Shangri-La. She toured the Heart & Soul Tour: 2011 with Rod Stewart, as well as the In Your Dreams Tour: 2011. Nicks herself has sparked rumors of a Fleetwood Mac reunion tour, but not until after her tour for her solo work comes to an end. The tour with Rod Stewart kicks off July 20 in Cleveland, OH, but she will perform a solo show in Boston on July 10 at the Bank of America Pavilion.
