Snow Patrol—Gary Lightbody, Jonny Quinn, Nathan Connolly, Paul Wilson, Tom Simpson, and Jonny McDaid—started in Ireland in 1994. They are an alternative rock band who have released six albums and five world tours.

In 1997, they joined the Jeepster label and released their first album, Songs for Polarbears. Their second album, When It’s All Over We Still Have To Clear Up, was released in 2001, but neither albums had much success.

They released their third album, Final Straw, in August 2003 with Black Lion Records. This time, they had more success and made it to #3 on the UK Albums Chart. Popular singles from the album include, “Run,” “Chocolate,” “Spitting Games,” and “How To Be Dead.” In 2005, they toured with U2 as the opening act on U2’s Vertigo Tour in Europe and the U.S. and also performed at the benefit concert, Live 8.

Their next album, Eyes Open, dropped in 2006 and was the best-selling album in the UK that year. Their single, “Chasing Cars,” was nominated for a 2007 Grammy Award and was featured on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. The song “Open Your Eyes” played on ER and the Black Donnellys. The band also performed on an episode of Saturday Night Live in 2007 and their song “Signal Fire” was on the soundtrack for Spiderman 3. They toured for the album from February 2006-September 2007.

In October 2008, their next album, A Hundred Million Suns, was released. They followed with their Tacking Back the Cities Tour based on their single, “Take Back the City.” Other performances include a show at the Coca-Cola Zero Festival and opening for Oasis and Coldplay.

November 2009 brought the release of their compilation album, Up To Now. Singles included their older songs as well as a few newer ones. Following the release, they went on the Reworked Tour to support the album.

They released their sixth album in November 2011, Fallen Empires. The first single off of their new album was called, “Called Out In The Dark” and was followed by the release of “This Isn’t Everything You Are.” Their newest North American tour, Fallen Empires Tour, kicks off on March 29, 2012 in Florida.
