Shakira is shaking her way around North America! The Columbian born belly dancing latin pop singer/songwriter is embarking on her, "Fijacion Oral"(Oral Fixation) tour this September. Known for her singles, "Whenever, Wherever", "Estoy Aqui", and "Ciega Sordomuda"; her latest single, "Hips Don't Lie" recently reached #1 Billboard's Top 100 this year. "Pies Descalzos" (Bare Feet) was her album that laid the red carpet for her blooming career, selling more than more than four million copies.
Born in Barranquilla, Columbia of seven siblings, released her first album, "Magia" (Magic) under Sony Columbia at age 15 in 1991. Since then, she's received a great number of awards including MTV Video Music Award for Favorite International Artist in 2006. This year, she's MTV's most nominated artist for this year's MTV Video Awards with a total of seven nominations, including Video of the Year, Viewer's Choice, Best Female Video, Choreography, and Art Direction.
She doesn't stop there. Her recent fame has aided her success with her Columbian charity, Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet), that helps protect children from the violence in Columbia. As she gains fans in non-Spanish speaking countries like Canada, France, Switzerland, she conquers her tribulations with the English market crossover solidifing her presence in the music industry for many years to come.
