Sacramento Kings information, The Kings started out as the Rochester Royals in 1945. Later they became the Cincinnati Royals, the Kansas City Kings and finally in 1985 the Sacramento Kings. They have one NBA Championship to their credit, which they won in 1951. They have five division titles, their last coming in 2003. In 2007 the Kings missed the playoffs for the first time since the 1997-98 season.
Last year the Kings finished with the worst record in the league at 17-65. This off-season they have made many adjustments to the franchise in order to avoid a second train wreck year. Former Phoenix Suns coach and player Paul Westphal agreed to step in as head coach. With the 4th overall pick in the draft the Kings selected Tyreke Evans, and picked Omri Casspi from Israel in the 23rd round. In July of 2009 they signed free agent forward Sean May to a one year deal. The new roster shows a lot of potential but it may take time for Sacramento to earn a winning season.
