Information

Philadelphia 76ers information, The 76ers were founded in 1939 and joined the NBA ten years later in 1949. Since their inception the 76ers have won three Championships but none since the 1982-83 season. Behind the strength of former 76ers star Allen Iverson they advanced to the NBA Finals in 2001 but lost in five games to the Lakers.

After a streak of mediocre seasons, the Sixers were in search of a fresh start and finally let go of their longtime franchise player Allen Iverson to the Detroit Pistons. With the new-found leadership of Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand, Philadelphia advanced to the first round of the 2009 NBA playoffs with a 41-41 record. They pulled-off two victories from game-winning shots by Iguodala and Thaddeus Young in games 1 and 3, but ended up losing the series in six games. The Sixers will only continue to develop and should find themselves competing in the playoffs again for next year.
