The Nittany Lions are the 29 varsity athletic teams that represent Pennsylvania State University and compete in the NCAA division 1 Big Ten conference. The most recognized playing fields on campus are Beaver Stadium, Bryce Jordan Center, and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
In the 15 years that the NACDA Director's Cup has been in existence, Penn State has consistently finished in the top 25. They finished 9th in the 2007-2008 standings which has been their highest finish in the past five years. The schools most successful sports through the years have been football, gymnastics, soccer, and volleyball. The Football team has earned two National titles (their last taking place in 1986). The Gymnastics program has earned the most National championships for the school (12).
