Sir James Paul McCartney is known as the most successful musician and composer in popular music, selling over 100 million singles and 60 gold discs. McCartney was first seen with John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr as a member of the Beatles. Together they changed the face of rock music, serving as a major influence to anyone that picks up an instrument or composes any type of music today. McCartney and Lennon together wrote some of the most covered songs in the history of music. The world famous hit 'Yesterday' has been covered by over 3,700 artists and has been played more than 7,000,000 times on American radio and television.

McCartney formed the band wings with his first wife Linda Eastman McCartney after leaving the Beatles. In 1977 they released the single "Mull of Kintyre" which became the first single to sell more than two million copies in the UK. His company MPL currently owns the copyrights to more than 3,000 songs including all music written by Buddy Holly, along with the publishing rights to popular musicals Guys and Dolls, A Chorus Line, and Grease. Aside from his musical influence, he is also a major advocate for animal rights and vegetarianism. At the age of 64, Paul McCartney is still entertaining crowds all over the world.
