New York Islanders information, The New York Islanders are based in Uniondale, New York. Since the birth of the franchise the Islanders have won four Stanley Cup titles, six Conference championships, and six Division titles.

After a very dismal 05-06 season, the Islanders looked to better their 36-40-6 record by presenting the fans attending the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum with a new and improved team. They went out and signed veteran defensemen Tom Poti and Brendan Witt. They also signed Mike Sillinger and Chris Simon to better their offense. This in turn helped the Islanders advance to the playoffs, only to lose in the Conference Quarterfinals to the Sabres in five games.

The Islanders failed to make it into the playoffs in 2008 and 2009. After two consecutive seasons under .500, the Islanders were able to select John Tavares first overall in the 2009 NHL Draft. Since claiming the #1 pick, the organization's ticket sales department has seen a "300-percent increase in phone calls and e-mail inquiries over last year at this time."
