Metric, the Canadian indie rock band consists of Emily Haines on vocals, James Shaw on guitar, Joshua Winstead on bass and joules Scott-Key on drums. The band first gained notoriety in Canada with their album Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? earning them a Juno Award nomination. In 2009 they released Fantasies in both the US and Canada. The album achieved success due to the band’s efforts touring and promoting the release. The lead single for the album, “Help, I’m Alive” was released on iTunes and they took home Group of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year at the 2010 Juno Awards. They also got songs featured on the soundtracks to movies such as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Twilight Saga: Eclipse bringing the band more into the public spotlight.
In June of 2012 the band released their fifth studio album entitled, Synthetica, followed by the single “Youth Without Youth”. The band also announced that they would be contributing to the soundtrack for a new film called Cosmopolis. The band is currently on tour in both the US and UK hitting up some big summer festivals along the way.
