Singer and actress Kristin Chenoweth has been in a number of Broadway shows, television shows, and movies. She may be best known for her role as Glinda in the musical Wicked. Chenoweth is a two-time Tony Award nominee and one-time winner for her portrayal of Sally in You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. She is also a two-time Emmy Award nominee and one-time winner as Olive Snook in Pushing Daisies.
She originally trained as an opera singer, but moved to New York to pursue a career in theatre. Her first role was in 1997’s Steel Pier before moving onto 1999’s You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown and Epic Proportions, 2003’s Wicked, 2006’s The Apple Tree, and 2010’s Promises Promises.
After leaving Wicked in 2004, Chenoweth landed a recurring role on The West Wing. She was in Pushing Daisies shortly after finishing The Apple Tree, but the show was cancelled after two seasons. In-between Broadway gigs, she has also made various guest appearances in TV shows and roles in movies.
Popular TV shows include Sesame Street as Ms. Noodle, Frasier, Ugly Betty, Robot Chicken, Glee, American Idol, and an upcoming appearance on Hot in Cleveland. She has also starred in a short-lived, self-titled sitcom and is currently starring on the new show GCB as one of the main characters, Carlene Cockburn.
Her filmography includes the made-for-TV films Annie, The Music Man, and 12 Men of Christmas, as well as motion picture films Bewitched, Pink Panther, RV, Running With Scissors, Deck the Halls, Tinker Bell, Four Christmases, and You Again.
In addition to her career as an actress, Chenoweth is an accomplished artist who has released four albums with Sony. They include, her debut, 2001’s Let Yourself Go, 2005’s Christian album As I Am, 2008’s Christmas album A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas, and 2011’s country album Some Lessons Learned.
This summer, Chenoweth is touring for her new album. The tour kicks off May 9 in Seattle, WA and will continue on across the US and Canada.
