Keith Urban information, Keith Urban is a New Zealand-born country music singer/guitarist who has been playing out at local night clubs since the age of 12. In 1990 he signed with EMI in Australia and his first solo album charted four #1 country hits. In
1992 he moved to Nashville and fronted a three-piece group called The Ranch, which put out one album before Keith left to pursue a solo career. In 2000 he released his self titled American debut album, which produced three top 5 hits and scored him a Top New Male Vocalist Award at the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards, and the 2001 Country Music Association's Horizon Award.
Golden Road was released in 2002, and the hit "Somebody Like You" stayed at the top of the country charts for eight consecutive weeks.
This album went platinum in every country that it was released in and went triple platinum in the U.S. In 2004 Be Here, was released and 3 of the tracks from the album went to #1 and by 2006 the album had also gone triple platinum.
He has toured solo and as a supporting act for Brooks and Dunn and Kenny Chesney. He was named Entertainer of the Year at the 2005 CMA's and made history in 2006 with the release of his single "Once In A Lifetime", which became the highest debuting single in Billboards country charts history. In 2007 Keith won Album of the Year at the ARIA Awards for his album "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing." His second single off the album "Stupid Boy" led him to win the Best Male Country Vocal Performance award at the 2008 Grammy Awards.
Urban has just released the single "Sweet Thing" which has already hit #1 in Canada, and his new album will be available in stores March 31, 2009.
