Houston Texans Information
The Houston Texans are the latest expansion team to join the NFL. In 2002, the city of Houston was awarded the rights to join the league after it’s beloved Oilers relocated to Tennessee. Since their inaugural season in 2002, the Texans have improved their record year by year. The progression from 2002-2004 was, 4-12, 5-11, 7-9. In 2005, however, they took a major step backwards. An abysmal 2-14 record led to the firings of coach Dom Capers, his assistant coaches and front office personnel.
New head coach Gary Kubiak had his work cut out for him in 2006, but improved the Texans to a 6-10 record. In 2007 and 2008, they finished with an 8-8 regular season record. 2009 marked their first winning season at 9-7, ranking them second behind the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South Division.
In 2010, they finished third in the division with a 6-10 record. They came back in 2011 and flipped their record to 10-6, which was good enough for first in the division. They beat the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the playoffs, but lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the following series.
The Texans are in a good position going into the 2012 season. They hope to continue their success within their division and to go further into the playoffs next season.
