Information

The Houston Texans are the latest expansion team to join the NFL. The young Franchise is only seven years old. In 2002 Houston was awarded the rights to join the league a few years after the city lost their beloved Oilers when they relocated to Tennessee. Since their inaugural season in 2002, the Texans had been improving their record year by year. The progression from 2002-2004 looked like this: 4-12, 5-11, 7-9. In 2005, however, they took a major step backwards. An abysmal 2-14 record was good enough to be the worst record in the league. When a team wins two games out of 16 everyone from the coaches to players are to blame. Coach Dom Capers was replaced after 4 years along with many assistant coaches and front office personnel.

New head coach Gary Kubiak had his work cut out for him in 2006, but improved Houston to a 6-10 record. In 2007 they finished 8-8, marking the first .500 record in team history. Last season they finished 8-8 as well, slipping into third place in the AFC South. The Texans might just be able to make their first playoff appearance this season with Rex Grossman taking snaps with support from Andre Johnson and Steve Slaton.
