They're considered to be one of the most legendary pioneers of the hard rock scene of the late eighties and early nineties. Guns N' Roses, the creators of the nationally and internationally known album, Appetite for Destruction, have still to this day managed to pull in millions of dollars in sales and sell more than 20 million copies. GNR have made a total of ninety million dollars in album sales. But drugs, alcohol, and personality conflicts have always kept the band on a pivoting edge.
GNR started as a smaller band out of Los Angeles, CA. They derived their name from a combination of the names of the bands that the members had played in before GNR; The Hollywood Roses and the L.A. Guns. They've won a great number of awards and played hundred of shows all around the world. They've been ranked number nine in VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" and also made an appearance in Rolling Stone Magazine's special edition of their "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".
The band is currently on tour promoting their latest album, The Chinese Democracy. This particular album has taken more than nine years to complete and took more than thirteen million dollars to make making the album the most expensive album ever recorded. From the dozens of guitar players, bassists, and drummers that have been with the band, Axl Rose is the only withstanding member of the band. The band will soon become eligible to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the year 2012.
