Goo Goo Dolls Information

After remaining inactive for four years, the Goo Goo Dolls returned to the studio for their upcoming release due out August 31st, tentatively titled Something for the Rest of Us. A single was supposed to be released in November 2009 and the album in February 2010, but the band went back into the studio in January because after thinking they were finished realized they can do a lot better. The band has confirmed that Paul David Hager was brought in as the mixer of the album and Rob Cavallo as the producer.

While this release will be the band’s ninth studio album, 1998’s Dizzy Up the Girl is their most successful album to date, with 3 million units sold. The success can mostly be attributed to the single “Iris”, which around the time of that album reached number one and remained on the Billboards for 18 weeks. Dizzy Up the Girl featured three additional top forty singles, with the songs "Slide", "Broadway", and "Black Balloon".

The most recent work from the Goo Goo Dolls was the release a single in 2008 called "Real" on the AT&T USA Olympic Team soundtrack to iTunes stores in August 2008 coinciding with the start of the Beijing Olympics. "Real" was also the theme song for WWE’s Tribute to the Troops 2008. The Goo Goo Dolls will be touring in promotion of their upcoming album this summer, coming to the Bank of America Pavilion August 2nd as part of the Mixfest and will be headlining a show at the Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavilion in Gilford, NH August 6th.
