Information

Golden State Warriors information, The Warriors were founded in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors. They moved to San Francisco in 1962 and 1971 and became the Golden State Warriors. They have won two NBA Championships; the last one in 1975. They have six Conference titles and seven division titles.

The Warriors had a successful season in 2008 despite not making the playoffs. They finished with a 48-34 regular season record but fell short behind other teams in the strong Western Conference. The 2009 Warriors struggled all season, finishing 3rd in the Pacific division with a 29-53 record. The main cause in their lack of success came from defense and the teams overall inexperience.

Although their record from last year does not show much promise for the future, Golden State fans should have a lot to look forward to. Last year the Warriors were the youngest team in the NBA and ranked second in scoring, averaging 108.6 points a game. In June of this year starter Jamal Crawford was traded to the Atlanta Hawks for Acie Law and Speedy Claxton. Days later Marco Belinelli was traded to the Toronto Raptors for Devean George. If these new additions can work for the better and defensive becomes more of a priority, the Warriors should be a competitive match up for most teams in 2010.
