George Strait Information

George Strait first reached mainstream success with his first top ten hit with "Unwound" in 1982, followed by the #1 hits "Fool Hearted Memory" and "Down and Out." As released on his official website almost twenty years later, George Strait now sits atop Billboard's list of the top 25 country music artists of the past 25 years, beating out Garth Brooks and followed by Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw in the top five. Billboard used success on its country album and song charts to compile the list. Strait has been the country music standard in the years the list covers, selling more than 68.l5 million albums and had 82 top 10 songs on Billboard Charts. He's had a top 10 hit in 30 consecutive years, a Billboard record.

The King of country holds the record for more #1 hit singles than any other artist in the history of music on any chart or in any genre, as of 2010, amassing 57 #1 hits, breaking a record previously set by Conway Twitty. He also holds the record for the most number one hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts with 44 number one singles.

Strait was also awarded CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989 and 1990 and ACM Entertainer of the year in 1990. He has been nominated for more CMA and ACM awards and has more wins in both categories than any other artist. Holding and breaking just about every record that George Strait has ever been faced with in the music industry, he is what some may call a living legend. His discography timelines ranges over 30 years, with the latest being his 26th studio album, Twang (2009). Currently George Strait is prepping to begin yet another tour, this time alongside fellow country star Reba McEntire. The pair will be performing at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on August 20th.
