Foster the People- with Mark Foster, Cubbie Fink, and Mark Pontius- is an American indie pop band coming out of LA. In 2010, they had a hit in their song, “Pumped Up Kicks,” which led to a deal with Columbia Records. Before releasing their first album, they performed at events like Coachella and South by Southwest to build their fan base.
Their album, Torches, dropped in 2011. “Pumped Up Kicks” was featured on the album and went to #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs, #3 on Billboard’s Rock Songs, as well as #3 on Billboard Hot 100. The song was also a huge radio hit across the country.
They performed on Saturday Night Live in October 2011 and received two Grammy Award nominations that year, including for Best Pop Dup/Group Performance for “Pumped Up Kicks,” and Best Alternative Music Album for Torches.
In 2012, they performed at the Grammy Awards with Maroon 5. They were on hand to celebrate the 50th Reunion Celebration of the Beach Boys. As they perform and write new songs, they are growing in success. Foster the People continue to perform across the U.S., Europe, and Canada. Their tour kicks off in Hawaii on March 18, 2012.
