Detroit Pistons information, The Pistons were founded in 1941 and joined the NBA in 1948. Their first of three NBA Championships came in 1989. Their most recent Championship was in 2004. They have won six straight division titles since 2003 and always serve as a major threat to other teams in post-season play.
Before the start of the 2009 season the Pistons traded away their franchise player Chauncey Billups to the Denver Nuggets. In return they were able to pick up All-Star veteran Allen Iverson, thinking he was the answer to get the Pistons back in the later rounds of the playoffs. The equation was never solved for Detroit as they finished 39-43 for the regular season, and lost four straight in the opening round of the playoffs to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
For 2010 the Pistons are again attempting to revamp their roster, signing former Bulls scorer Ben Gordon and also picking up Charlie Villanueva from the Bucks. They lost Rasheed Wallace to free agency, who signed with the Boston Celtics. Iverson is currently up for free agency and it is questionable whether they will negotiate another deal with him. Either way, with Villanueva and Gordon the Pistons should be a much improved team for next year.
Veteran guard Allen Iverson has been waiting all summer as a free agent, but has just recently received the official call from the Memphis Grizzlies.
